Career Path Change?

Hi I went to school to become a Electrical Contractor and graduated with 3ed highest grade average in school but I never worked for any type of construction job besides flooring which was less than 4 months, because of this it is impossible for me to find a entry-level job in the contracting buisness both because I can’t afford a truck (have a car) and I have a lack of experince in just about any construction type job and the econemy where I live (boston, ma). So I am thinking of changing careers into somthing else that I really enjoy doing and that is computer programming and I was just wondering if it’s really worth it to pay to go back to school and learn somthing about a totaly diffrent feild. In computer programming are there more job oppurtunities, does the buisness / work demand go down if the econemy does? Is it steady all year around. Just trying to figure out my choices here. 5 stars for the person that can help me out the best, thanks so much everyone. =)

I don’t want to burst your bubble…..my bf is a computer programmer and he has had a very rough time and is very good at his job. He worked for a company during college for 2 yrs which ended up flopping. Then worked from home running his own company for 2 more yrs he now has a job in MA. Which is going good… but he doesn’t know if this one will flop too. He never stopped his side work though to rely on. He seems to really like it however. I guess it all depends on you. There is no guarantee with any jobs anymore except medical related or accountants. Maybe you should just look around out of Boston. Have you tried Cape Cod area? Or even NH? maybe you could see if you can go and just get certified for HVAC or plumbing or something probably cheaper schooling and worth it.

Wish ya luck
