Computer Contractors

How is it working as a contractor in computer science / software engineer?

Could you describe the pressures, what you like and don’t like about it. and the pay range and health benefits? Would you rather work in a regular permanent job?

It’s hard work because you can be on a project and fired on a moments notice. There’s no job security, the timelines are usually very difficult and the benefits are zero.

The people I’ve had working on projects are usually very good but when it comes time to wrap up a project, the consultants are almost always the first to go.
