I received a “camera ticket” last Nov. in Beverly Hills, CA.Can I contest it now since on 4/29 it was blocked?

I paid the almost $400 ticket, and went to online traffic school. Today, 4/30, in the LA Times there was a short article stating that lawmakers in Sacramento “blocked a proposal Tuesday to allow Beverly Hills police officers to use cameras to catch speeders . . . . ” The Senate Transportation Committee “deadlocked 5 to 5 on the bill.” A statement made by one of the objecting Senators stated ” . . . the system would rely on a private contractor,” and ” . . . what it does is it creates revenue for a private company.” Do I (and others) have ANY kind of recourse to “contest” the tickets we received in the past now that this proposal was “written legislation for a test program in which Beverly Hills officers would hold a camera triggered by a radar gun that would record speeders. Tickets would be mailed to violators.” My ticket was mailed, and promptly (though VERY reluctantly) paid.

Did you receive a camera ticket for SPEEDING? I suspect it was for running a red light, and such tickets are and have been authorized. At any rate, you went to traffic school, the charge was dismissed, and there is nothing more to be done now.
