While on vacation this summer I had the opportunity to meet with a famous actress. In reality, when she realized until my wife pointed it out. However, there she walked right past us at Dollywood, USA. At first, I did not recognize, because I really was not looking. In addition, she had not dressed in the manner of his career in television. A moment later, I asked my wife to continue with the children while I return for better monitoring vision.

I turned around and finally caught up with the actress and her group. Since I only wanted to verify my observation and not disturb her, I kept walking along she took a right and there was lost. I looked around as if searching for something. After taking a discreet look that was finally able to recognize her as the person television. Then I made my way back to my family, smiling and nodding to the actress as she walked by.

"I'm not sure, but I think she was, "I finally told my wife." Good point.

Later that night, after returning to the cabin on vacation for my wife came running toward me.

"See, I knew it was her." My wife was held open a gossip magazine with the famous actress and her boyfriend in a photo walking on a beach resort.

In the photo, the actress had used the same pink trucker hat and brown sunglasses he had seen in the same day. I could not believe it had been a good point.

"So why not talk to her?" asked my wife.

"Well, I really did not know what he said. Besides, I think he just wanted to enjoy their holiday," I replied.

I've been thinking about the event and out since returning from our vacation. This actress has attempted to assume a normal life in a normal holiday taken by ordinary people. However, instead of mixing it really stood out enough to be recognized by my wife (who also has been able to detect other celebrities in airports during our trips).

Our actress has tried to mix in dress clothes to be a bit incognito. However, hat and sunglasses did actually excel. Here in the south, many people like to wear baseball caps. That day, few people wore hats. Those who do regular baseball caps were not the type of mesh of trucker hats, especially the pink, not hot. The sunglasses were big and clashed with the hat (and equipment) and the type of fact the appearance someone who gets everything wrong in an attempt to look like everyone else.

Not that I'm a fan of fashion sound, but I'm seeing this in an OPSEC or safety standpoint. Our actress tried to have fun at a theme park without calling attention to her or her celebrity status. However, his attempt to mix May have failed because their unusual dress.

Cleared Professionals could learn a lesson from this story. Defense contractor and the work of government should not be designed so to call attention to the operation. This applies to the efforts of both classified and unclassified. Practicing good OPSEC includes a look at their operations through the eyes for someone wishing to exploit their vulnerabilities. A good question is "how an adversary recognizing our efforts and how they try to learn more about it? "Security managers should consider the environment, situation, and environment to ensure performance on contracts, property data and otherwise privileged key information is still low. Teach employees to work in a way not to draw unwanted attention.
