Help with my 1099-MISC?
Ok, ive never had to file taxes before. So ive been spending alot of time reading up on what i need to do with the forms im getting in the mail. But im a little confused and nervous about it, so i just want some backup to make sure im understanding everything correctly.
Basically I just want to know what i need to do with the 1099-MISC papers i have.
Right now all i have are the 1099-MISC forums from two different companies i worked for last year as an Independent Contractor, and another as a Laborer
My friends suggest TurboTax, but any other suggestions would be much appreciated!
Or where can i go to get help on this?
Thank you!
I’ve used TurboTax for 6 years and am very happy with it.
TurboTax will interview you about those 1099-MISC forms and make the right decisions. As a general rule, if you made more than $400, you have to pay for Social Security and Medicare Taxes (about 15.2% of earnings) using Schedule SE.
Basically, people who hire you as an independent screw you so they get out of paying THEIR 7.6% share of those taxes.
