A Roof Agency  Can Do So Much More Than Simple Repairs

I own a downtown Los Angeles commercial  building that has been changed into lots  of apartments. Many of my tenants in the past  had just one complaint about living there, and that  was the fact that there were not many places to hang out with  nature. Until, that is, I got this roof company to redesign  the roof space into a gorgeous green roof.

Those residing  in southern California know about many of the great  loft spaces that can be rented in Los Angeles. I used to constantly  have one or two people interested in leasing one of my studio  apartments, but now I have got at least thirty people just  waiting in line to rent from me. This is mainly because  of the green roof I had a roof agency retrofit my building  with.

Those of you who are unfamiliar with  what a green roof is could be astonished  that you can actually put what amounts to a mini  park on the roof of a building. Recently the Federal Government passed  many economic stimulus packages and there was  this tax credit that building owners could get for doing environmentally  appealing remodeling that conforms to  Energy Star rules. This tax  credit went a long way toward paying for the entire  remodeling project, but with the utility savings the whole project  is going to be paid for in no time anyway.

With the supplementary  space to the building I now have a better appraisal and I can  charge more for rent. Between the cash savings and the  added revenue, the roof company that did the green  roof has helped me out so much that I think I’m going to  redesign the other building I have before the tax credit expires.

A green roof cannot simply  be designed for buildings with flat commercial roofs; they can also be designed for residential  applications. If you wish to find a roof agency  to design a green roof for you then it shouldn’t be that hard, particularly  in Southern California.

When you are looking for  a roof company I suggest  that you go to the State of Californians website. They offer  tips on how to get a competent state licensed general  contractor. There are recommendations on there that can  help people protect themselves from dishonest con men  that may try to take your cash and not even  do any work for you.

If you decide to use environmentally  helpful materials to take advantage  of the Federal Governments tax credits, I propose  you talk to your tax company about the details.  A few of the tax credits demand that the project be  certified to be eligible.
