Obligations of housing associations.?

Housing association who i rent a flat from replaced kitchen last year and I was told by the contractor they are legally bound to modernise them by 2010. If this is true are there any regulations to modernise / update bathrooms by a certain date. Many thanks

I understand that all Registered Social Landlords (RSL) such as local councils and Housing Associations have a legal obligation to ensure that their properties meet “decent homes” standards by 2010. I am not sure what this actually constitutes but suggest that you check with your Housing Association how they intend to implement said standards.

Your local Citizens Advice will be able to give you an outline of the minimum standards required of RSLs. Make sure that you see an adviser with rather more knowledge than that of “Scouse”.
