Can I deduct insurance premiums paid by a scholarship if I'm an independent contractor?

My primary income is derived from the research I do care that is supported by a grant from the government. I use part of the grant to pay premiums subsidized health insurance at the university where I work. Moreover I condominium maintenance as an independent contractor. Can I deduct my insurance premiums?

All health insurance premiums you pay (except by inference payroll) can be deducted as medical expenses on Schedule A if you itemize, are not refundable, and not deducted elsewhere. If you are asking about the self deduction of health insurance, but often (and incorrectly) claimed by independent contractors, that the deduction actually applies only to a plan health insurance that is part of your business (independent contracting), not an individual plan or health plan of the university.
