what to do about your contractor ?

My contractor has done the roof and the inside of the house. He has givin 7 proposals and i have not sign one .He keeps going up on the proposal.Allstate has not even came to check on his work.I want even sign the checks. And all the work that he said he did on the paper he did not do.The ceiling in the bedroom fell on me allstate did not even pay the bill.I have a problem with allstate and with this contractor. He said he will put a lean on my house. What do i need to do to take care of this problem?

It will probably be useless to argue with the contractor. Best advice is to contact your Allstate Insurance agent. Have your agent, the Allstate Adjuster handeling the claim, and the contractor meet at your house with you to review the problems. Do not sign any release until you are satisfied with the work.

If you cannot reach an agreement any other way, you should contact your attorney. Chances are good that a well written letter from your attorney will cause Allstate to take your complaints seriously. Your attorney may even want to send a letter of complaint to your State’s Commissioner of Insurance. Insurance companies hate having to deal with these regulatory agencies, but it may be the leverage you need.

Good luck with your insurance claim.
