Questions Ask Contractor
Is this a DIY brick job or should I get a contractor?
Forgive me, I asked this question yesterday & left out important details. My house is in S. California, 22 years old and 90% stucco. For appearance, the developer installed 1/2″ bricks (6 rows horizontal, 1 vertical, 8′x3′) in the front of the house. I didn’t like it to begin with and many are now chipped – it looks awful.
Is this a do it yourself job or should I call in a contractor? What should I expect a contractor to charge?
Why do you need a bricklayer? You cannot lay real brick unless you have a brickledge to lay the brick on. So if you are taking off the fake brick you just need the stucco patched?
You need a EIFS contractor fo that. Call your local hometown lumber yard and ask for the name of a contractor that does *Sto* or *Dryvit* work. This is the newer form of stucco.
You can probably remove the fake brick with a brick chisel and a 3lb hammer. Drive the chisel under the edge off the fake brick and pop it off.
