Telecom Contractor Jobs
is it essential to have diploma or engineering degree to get telecom job?
I’hv been working in Telecom sector for 9 years as contractor, i dont have any diploma or degree in telecommunication, I am looking for job, is it possible to get job in Telecoms Industries without having Diploma or Engineering Degree. please suggest me.
Well, I am working for O&M ( Operation & Maintenance), Installation & Commissioning, Network expansion, OFC and copper cable maintenance, splicing and Jointing, ect.
i do not have one…
i would focus more on certifications… they are IMO what are more important in the telecommunications field… find out what systems that your potential employers use/service/install and get certified with those systems… will be cheaper, and faster to obtain than a degree, and will be more specialized in the equiptment that you will be working with..
also, as with any job it is who you know… i work for a CLEC and a VoIP/DSL company, i have nothing more than high school – but my high school was called “HS of telecommunications arts and technology” i also freelance… no one has ever asked me for any education background, i just do a good job, and the word travels from company to company… i have been at it for around 10 years…
a lot of getting a job in any industry is who you know, your appearance, and your confidence and how you carry/present yourself…
