In today's world the importance of the Arabic language can not be overstated. The Middle East remains and will remain an integral part of the map of the world, both economically and politically. There are very few U.S. Arabic speakers who opens enormous job opportunities for those who do. Since the attacks of 11 September U.S. government has been going crazy looking for citizens who speak Arabic to translate the vast amount of communications that are intercepted daily from the Middle East. I say people because many of these jobs require a security clearance that Arab-Americans, although they can speak English and Arabic, will not be able to achieve because of his background. These are jobs in places like the CIA, NSA and FBI. Jobs not unlike what you see on television shows like 24.
Not only is the U.S. government looking for Arabic speakers, but companies operating in the contract for the government is looking for linguists Arabic and are willing to pay a lot for people with the right capabilities. A quick search of a place like clearancejobs.com or any other search site employment for the word "Arab" will show you new job listings added every day to pay at least an annual salary of $ 80,000 for Arabic speakers. Some go as high as an annual salary of $ 180,000. Most of these jobs are not in danger. They are based in the states and pay much money to translate from Arabic into English.
If you really want to learn Arabic and take advantage of great opportunities and demand for speakers I suggest you start today doing a Google search for Arabic. You will find countless ways to start learning the language quite possibly more profitable in the world today.
